-Purgatory is the place where souls that died in God's grace are purified of their sins before going to Heaven.

-The Mines of Moria are a Dwarven location overrun by Orcs from JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings book trilogy.

-The Bog of Eternal Stench is a place in the movie Labyrinth.

-The Plane of Ultimate evil is possibly a reference to Dungeons and Dragons' plane Abyss
